About me
I am applying to be an exhibitor at CrimeCon 2026 to share the story of Gavin Buchanan and the mission of the Gavin Buchanan Memorial Foundation. When Gavin was just 5 and 6 years old, he selflessly donated all of his chore and tooth fairy money to help provide bulletproof vests for two Bay Area law enforcement K9s. Gavin had a deep love and respect for animals and for those who serve our communities — a love far beyond his years. In September 2015, our world was shattered when Gavin and his parents were tragically murdered by Gavin’s 16-year-old half-brother. In the wake of this unimaginable loss, our family created the Gavin Buchanan Memorial Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to honor Gavin’s legacy of compassion and service. Since our founding in October 2015, the Foundation has donated over $200,000 in protective equipment and financial assistance to K9 units across the country. Our mission is simple but vital: to protect the lives of working K9s and support the law enforcement agencies they serve. As exhibitors at CrimeCon 2026, our goals would be to: Raise awareness about the critical, ongoing needs of law enforcement K9s; Share Gavin’s inspiring story to promote empathy, service, and resilienc; Connect with law enforcement agencies, supporters, and citizens nationwide to expand our outreach and impact. We believe CrimeCon attendees will connect deeply with Gavin’s story and with our mission to turn tragedy into tangible good. We hope you will consider us for inclusion at CrimeCon 2026 and help us keep Gavin’s memory alive — not just through remembrance, but through continued action that protects and saves lives.
