Phyllis's Garden is a non profit created by Kris Pedretti and Gay Hardwick, both victims of the Golden State Killer. We partner with law enforcement, and communities to design Soft Interview Rooms—calming, non-institutional environments that reduce retraumatization, increase a sense of safety, and support trauma-informed interviewing practices. Beyond the rooms, Phyllis’s Garden offers survivor-led support groups, healing gatherings, and education that help survivors feel believed, respected, and empowered. Our work is grounded in a simple truth: Healing begins with safety, dignity, and choice—and the blame always belongs to the perpetrator, never the survivor.
